41 Seconds In this video tells the campaign story along with a brief overview of our location based social networking experience. Below you will see the fully automated traveling photo experience: hardware and software. As the photographer captures images and they are seamlessly sent to 4 computers to be uploaded to facebook over EVDO cards. The photo is also sent to a face morphing application that finds 9 points on the face and morphs them in real time. The hidden beauty of this project is the automated set up. The whole experience launches when the camera is plugged into the computer.
It’s not every day a company asks you to make something for a non pro-profit organization that would help people remember what its like to be a child. The non-profit was the Children’s Tumor Foundation, helping kids affected by a genetic disorder called Neurofibromatosis. CTF wanted to transform their fund-raising party into an event that reflected the foundation itself. As it turned out, the inspiration came from a six year old girl with NF. We gave the potential donors the chance to change the night sky above their heads, much the way the foundation hoped they might change the life of a child suffering from NF. Guest played with blocks like kids. When they placed a block on the table, it became a star in the night sky above their heads. As they moved the blocks closer to each other, constellations formed. Those constellations had names; Hope, Support, Inspiration, Education – the building blocks of the foundation. So adults became kids again, they felt empowered to give.
This is some of the awesome artwork created by students who are in my friend JoAnn Puleo’s Art class at Tenakill Middle School in Closer, New Jersey. Be sure to check out the sneaker project from last year… Sneaker Art
The interactive aquarium is installed in store front windows in 6 cities across the US. Using computer vision the seascape will react to the motion of a user, seaweed will sway and fish will scatter. Users can then dial in with any mobile device and create a fish using their voice. As they connect in realtime the sounds they make are analyzed and create a dynamically generated fish. You can then enter that fish into the aquarium and use your key pad to eat various pieces of fish food that will transform and morph your fish into creatures. The application will remember the state of your fish so that when you call back later you can evolve your fish even further.
